Diverse JKS community is celebrated on European Languages Day

We’re proud of our diverse community at Junior King’s and the recent European Day of Languages offered an opportunity to celebrate this.

Exposure to different cultures from a young age helps children form open-minded, outward-looking values and attitudes. Research shows that it even helps them build better social skills and enjoy greater career success.

The children taught their classmates how to greet each other in a wealth of languages including Cantonese, Greek, Turkish and Japanese. They also shared information on their various nationalities and why they enjoy being bilingual.

Our Modern Language teachers were thrilled to see the children take so much joy in telling their classmates about their various backgrounds and helping them learn some new words in the process.

Languages are an important element of the school curriculum, with French teaching taking place from the Pre-Prep onwards. Native Language Assistants offer support in class, ensuring no child gets left behind and all can progress at their own pace.
