Welcome back and Happy New Year
A very Happy New Year to all Junior King’s families and welcome back to the new term. A special welcome to our new families this term who have just joined the school. There was a very happy buzz around the school when the pupils, looking exceptionally smart for the first day, returned and I have enjoyed hearing about some exciting adventures as well as achievements over the holidays. I hope that everyone has had some time for rest and relaxation.
The first three days have been about welcoming new friends and settling back into term, and things have returned to normal. Everyone is looking forward to another busy and productive term ahead. The staff enjoyed two days of Inset at the start of the week, run by our own staff. Inset is all about developing our professional skills and reinvigorating our teaching, and this was certainly the case.
I have been enjoying starting some of the mock interviews for the Year 8 scholarships and I wish all our candidates the very best for their forthcoming assessments. I am very proud of those I have interviewed so far, they are all equally impressive and spoke with confidence, eloquence and enthusiasm about their subject.
We welcomed a representative from Porchlight today and were able to present our cheque from our Carol Service collection. We all learned more about the very important and wonderful work that this charity does for the homeless and vulnerable people living on the streets.
Last term our Year 8 monitors and prefects were exceptional. Congratulations to our new Year 8 monitors and to our three additional prefects for this half of term.
