Scholarly Success

This is Mental Health Awareness Week at Junior King’s and a variety of lunchtime activities have been taking place across the week for pupils and staff to enjoy. Our Parents’ Forum meeting was a very informative e-safety talk by Mr Carl Hopwood, followed by pupil workshops, which were positively received.

Junior King’s hosted the Kent Speech and Drama Festival last weekend, and welcomed families from other schools and drama clubs too. It was an impressive showcase of so many of our talented pupils and visitors. There were many classes throughout the day. I was particularly proud of the support and encouragement that our children gave to each other, even when competing against each other. Congratulations to Isabelle and Charlotte in their final rounds and for performing so well, and to Elena and Olivia for their superb performance together and winning the Junior Best in Festival, which was a great achievement.

While exciting work is going on in St Nicholas’ Church with the long-awaited renovations to the roof, on Monday the chapel choir treated staff and parents to an excellent hour of music and all sang well. Everyone enjoyed a delicious barbecue in the orchard afterwards, despite it being meat-free Monday!

International Afternoon in Pre-Prep was a joy and I loved the costumes, food and music. Thank you to all our Pre-Prep parents for the wonderful array of food on offer, it was a real treat to be part of the afternoon and to see so many families there.
It is Open Morning tomorrow and we all look forward to welcoming a very large number of new families to the school for tours and celebrating the excellence of our school.

In the recent academic 13+ scholarship exams this term, I am delighted to announce that Joseph was awarded an Academic Scholarship, Téa an Academic Exhibition and Maya an English prize. The whole of 8L were offered and awarded places at The King’s School for the academic performance this year and I am delighted that Stanley and Toby both gained places at Tonbridge School for Year 9. We are very proud of all their achievements.
