Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship Education
PSHCE is Personal Social Health and Citizenship Education. It is taught by form tutors in forms on Tuesday mornings. The program provides pupils with opportunities to learn about personal wellbeing through discussions and lessons about friendships, relationships, substances, and personal safety. Pupils also learn about economic wellbeing through discussions and lessons about business, careers, enterprise and global issues such as climate change and sustainability.
Teaching in the classroom is supplemented by some excellent outside visitors and speakers. Pupils in year 4 and 8 were visited by Kic Theatre during the autumn term to help them develop a greater understanding of some of the topics they later covered in class that term. Pupils in year 7 are visited by Mr Roger Elgood during the autumn term who delivers a fascinating lecture ‘Insight into Blindness’.
