Art

The fundamental aim of the Art department is to build in each child an enthusiasm for Art; to foster skills, knowledge and a love of creativity that will provide not just a basis for success in senior school examinations, but also a foundation for an understanding of Art, Craft and Design which will stay with them for life.

A broad and balanced syllabus includes: drawing, painting, printing, textiles, three-dimensional work - especially ceramics, learning about, discussing and implementing the work of artists, photography, ICT and animation (as you can see below from the marvellous film made by our own Christian Prior of Year 8).

The Art department sets high standards and provides a visually stimulating environment, which is hard working, encouraging and cheerful and where all gain a sense of achievement.

Art Scholarship students should be capable of producing the highest quality portfolio consistent with the requirements of their chosen senior school.
